Funny how rates were one thing until insurance. Then you paid the insurance and the same to the doctor (doctor rates went up). Then HMO, PPOs etc. Seems it still costs as much out of pocket. Example: friend was bitten by a snake. Cost Cost, before insurance: $83,639 Cost, after insurance: $1,476 !! IT costs as much with insurance now as it used to cost many years ago before insurance. Then again, doctors used to make house calls when I was little.

Regarding the Brits claimed superior health care system, I’m wondering if dental coverage is part of the plan. Not intending to offend anyone; but, its been a long standing joke about the condition of teeth in England..Dental coverage in the USA is a bit of a joke, anyway. If you subscribe to a dental plan, the total paid into the plan each year is often way more than the actual cost of your dental care; assuming you get two dental exams each year. On the rare occasion you will need expensive repairs, most plans only pay a percentage of the cost, and cap the amount usually after one claim. The net result is you usually paid the same in premiums as you get in benefits.
simple business fact, the amount paid in for any insurance will always be substantially more than the amount paid out by insurance. If that were not the case then there would be no business. Insurance companies are companies and all companies have one thing in common, they make money.
You can talk about the NHS in the UK being “best” (according to WHO which is not known for being entirely unbiased), but the system is going bankrupt. There are already many who are warning of the system’s imminent collapse. More people are switching to private healthcare.When the customer is protected from the price of a service, the price inevitably goes up. It’s like a law of physics, like gravity. You ignore it at your own peril.
