Corporate standard today in America, not just car companies, but banking, “investment”, pharmaceuticals, and the health insurance industry with their partners in medicine, for starters.
It’s the Republican way! In Texas the changed a law that required companies to report on the dangerous chemicals and explosives they stored in their facilities. The report used to be public so you could find out if you were living next to such a hazard. Now the report is no longer available to the public. That saves the companies from getting flak from those who live next to the danger.
When corporations (who are legally people) steal, pollute, and kill, they are acting without a moral compass. Finesse that as much as you want — I wasn’t the one who gave them ‘personhood’ or said they could use religion to avoid laws they don’t choose to obey.
Yes, those very same drug companies that create artificial shortages to drive up the price. They may be “free” to the VA, but you can bet a taxpayer or two are paying something for them.
They are the very same drug companies that advertise heavily on TV and in print, passing the costs along to everyone who purchases any medication they make, advertised or not. The same ones that sell the same medications far cheaper in every country but ours.
Denis; like the “sleep aid” I took for a while, heavily advertised that my CO – Pay was $6 PER PILL, and my insurance company paid an additional $16 for, which counting research and development, product testing, manufacturing, and distribution, works out to costing them $0.07 per pill, with an added cent or so for advertising??
BTW: VA won’t prescribe that pill because the pharmaceutical company refuses to negotiate price, they use another one that the military also uses, that granted, isn’t as “safe”, but that company WILL negotiate price to a reasonable profit margin.
Which, while I do qualify for VA meds, being permanently disabled by serving my country, and YOU, among others, which you constantly whine about, I also have my group policy which I PAY FOR, to cover my spouse, and to get care more locally, on MY dime, without hitting up you poor defenseless taxpayers who love wars, but not the warriors.
As to Texas BANNING cities or counties from warning people about corporations more than willing to kill them, and escape responsibility because the Texas (Republican) legislature defends them, not the people, that deserves a lot more attention than it’s been getting, just like when it is TEXAS that also keeps having the most explosions of gas pipelines, due to their “strict” HAR! state laws defending folks from corporate greed and lax safety measures.
you people have to talk to eric holder. the laws are there to prosecute persons in corporations engaged in illegal acts. but how many of the wall street criminals have been taken to court? none. they slap a fine on the company and call it good. maybe when lloyd blankfein, jamie dimon, and the rest of their ilk are sitting in the defendants chair we can see a change in corporate attitudes.
