I do seem to remember Huey being more light skinned in the show.

She’s just spouting a common misconception among whites and blacks. Many years ago, a few of my friends went to the beach. Mike, a black friend of mine, played out in the sun all day, believing himself immune from a sunburn. Since none of us knew any different, there was no one to warn him. He was pretty much sidelined for the next couple of days. All he could do was lay there and groan. I guess that’s what you call learning the hard way.

At least it’s ignorance and not prejudice. Ignorance can be cured.
