Huey makes a good point about the candy and he knows Halloween was founded by the ancient Celts who viewed dead spirits with fear whereas Huey’s ancestors were comfortably connected with the Spirit World.

Ouch, indeed.

Jazmine may be Huey’s favorite target for destroying childish innocence, but even she can hit him where it hurts.

So many people want to live in the past instead of enjoying each day they are alive.

One can enjoy candy and childhood without the paganism. Consider how our Creator views such things.

If Huey insists on living his childhood like a revolutionary curmudgeon, he’ll be burned out before he’s 20.

And this is why I never warmed up to Huey. The boy has absolutely no joy in his life, and he likes it that way.

On the other hand, Huey has been unfair with Jazmine occasionally. Yet, he once apologized to her for hurting her feelings.
