An unnecessary intrusion by government into an irrelevancy.

It was not a slur at the time it was adopted, and even today a large majority of Native Americans are not offended by the name.

No intrusion at all. In fact, the government just withdrew itself from the issue, leaving it a matter of personal liberty. Fly, little racial epithet (meaning the scalp of a native American), fly! You’ve been set free over a 1999 court case decided on by three Bush II appointees!

Was a slur, is a slur and it’s shameful in the year 2014 in our nations Capitol.

Isn’t that image of the “Native” American that same as was on the old “Indian Head” Nichol?? Really close.

This is a stupid debate to even have – IF it is so offensive then the free market will dictate the name change by lower sales and empty seats…

The problem – liberals are mad that it this hasn’t happened because people are not that offended. This is just another issue where the loud minority tries to override the majority. Sorry, but we are still a democracy with a free market the last time I checked.

There are many things in the market place that offend me, and guess what, I don’t buy them!!! I don’t impose my will on everyone else.

You are all too sensitive. There is not anything out there that will not offend someone any more.

What is most offensive is that the people making the biggest deal out of this are liberal white American’s that are totally unaffected by the issue and feel they need to protect everyone else’s feelings. In my opinion that is more disrespectful than anything.

Don’t look down on people and assume they cannot fight their own fights, or assume they are not offended.

If you don’t like the name, boycott the team. If you really don’t like it boycott the NFL.

This is just the latest “trendy” issue to push so that you appear you are engaged and politically correct.
