Once again, the gun lobby believes that those of us who want to reduce gun violence have only one only possible alternative, which is total confiscation. Once again, they will not entertain the thought that there just might be other alternatives to consider.
Not everyone who wants to stop senseless gun violence wants to confiscate everyone’s guns. And the intentional and intractable closed-mindedness that embraces that belief means that the carnage will continue unabated.
I do give Mr. Werzelberger props for saying it out loud. “Sorry about your kids. Sure would be sad if they were mine. But….not that sorry.” I truly hope that the next time this happens, and there will most certainly be a next time, and a next, that it is not his children who are listed as victims.
The NRA doesn’t even represent its own members: A poll from Frank Luntz found 82 percent of gun owners—including 74 percent of NRA members—support background checks for those wanting to buy a gun.
We had a local murder a guy with a barbecue fork, in was reduced to voluntary manslaughter though. But the POINT is; when do we give everyone more guns so they can shoot anyone with a barbecue fork, proactive self-defense?
