I actually had a 6 month fight with a credit card company back in the 90’s, I paid off my credit card, mailed the payment the day after the bill was received, next month got a bill for $.75 for interest for late payment. They cashed my check 1 week before it was due but didn’t post the payment until the day AFTER it was due……….that $.75 got up to about $5.00 before they gave up……..I proved to them on several different occasions that it was their fault the payment was late not mine. It totally was a matter of I was NOT going to be held hostage on a stupid credit card company rather than the amount.--

I don’t have much to do with credit cards anymore.

I set up online bill-paying for everything during the evacuation and ensuing chaos of Hurricane Katrina (who knew when or where any mail would go?). Definitely more convenient and I was especially glad to have done it when I read about this type of slimy shenanigans by credit card companies. Paying online, there are no issues of mail-transit time or check-cashing time. Payments are posted immediately with electronically transferred funds, and a confirmation is sent.
