More and more I read these new interpretations of history through Internet reader comments. Very interesting. Do these opinions originate with specific conservative commentators? If so, please tell me which ones so I can understand the reasoning behind them and decide for myself their validity. Maybe I have to learn history all over again?
I have to wonder if Overtaxed is another study in sarcasm along the lines of Micheal wme. I just can’t bring myself to believe someone can be that utterly deluded.
I’m willing to say that Stalin and Mao were leftist extremists, but not Hitler. I’ve been active in the left since the 1960s, and I have always argued that we have to admit that left principles can be distorted with horrible results, and I’ve argued that we have a responsibility to analyze what went wrong and do our best to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. I would hope that honest and sincere rightists would engage in a similar critique of their history.
Somehow those horrible socialists in Europe have longer life expectancy, lower infant mortality rates, higher PISA scores, higher average middle class incomes, and higher upward social mobility than America. Maybe you have not noticed that America has become a plutocracy and is well on its way to becoming an oligarchy.

Michael wme links to news articles these days, but it wasn’t always so. People used to mistake him for being serious as well.
