Really? The NBA’s fans, players, and other owners do not display the historic, gut wrenching level of hatred that Sterling did towards people of other skin colors. The teams, crowds, and coaching staff are refreshingly integrated. It wasn’t just Sterling’s phone call, it was his entire career in real estate as well.
To all of those people who get ‘uppity’ when somebody writes that racism is still alive and kicking, we have Clive Bundy and Mr. Sterling to remind us that prejudice is indeed, very much alive. It is being made more so since Conservatives can’t depend on ‘brown’ people voting for their candidates and causes, so white money and white politicians are working to make it harder for those who won’t vote with them to vote at all. It is sad that liberals are unable to ‘lead’ without trying to end all of societies ills at one time. They, and Republicans, would do well to deal with the issues upon which all of us agree with open minds and open hearts, but the only enemy more threatening than Russia is the opposing party and their supporters. We have met the enemy, and they are us.How sad.Respectfully,C.
That is why I said, we have met the enemy and they are “Us”.In eighth grade, I knew a black teen who had nothing good to say about his race, the black culture, or black history. I tried to point out to him that Roman soldiers had had great respect for African warriors who were using the same technology they were in battle. OOnly the tactics and strategies were different. While you are correct to point out that Dems have their own share of racist and discriminatory positions, the fact remains that the conservatives are much more entrenched and proactive in combating the rights of brown people to have access to the polls. You are not wrong, Ionizer. It is as I often say, both parties are cannibalistic, ego centric, and self serving. You and I don’t even matter to them.Respectfully,C.
Except that he is still a rich slimy pig….who now just has to buy a ticket to see his team play basketball. What a remarkable joke…but people will still send him money to go to these games.
It would be good to have a serious discussion about race in the US. Most of the comments here are people talking past each other. In my opinion, a discussion about race would also have to be a discussion about class and poverty and opportunity. Why should there be poverty in this rich society? If everyone really had an opportunity to find a decent way of life in this society, maybe there would be no need to argue about affirmative action programs and who benefits at whose expense.

Aaaaaaaah, you might want to include fans, players and other owners, along with the sports media there too.

Whoa, taking the guy’s money was one thing…but giving him an AWARD, knowing how he made his pile? That was inexcusable.

It is not noted here, nor very much in the mainstream media, that Donald Sterling is a Democrat.
