When I was young, mothers were always carping at kids to clean their plates, because kids in China were starving. We were all as skinny as rails as we played outside all day and moms cooked food with lard, butter, sugar, etc. Now kids are obese as they cannot go out and play all day because gang-bangers, drug dealers and perverts rule the streets and the public parks. So kids stay indoors, vegetate in front of TV and other electronic devices, eat “light” and still weigh twice what we weighed. They also go to school longer yet get lower SAT scores even after the standards have been lowered at least twice. Children must run around like maniacs to burn off energy and to stimulate their minds. Now we drug them and call them hyper active attention deficit. Let them out to play all day and a lot of that will disappear.
