“Hand up” = good thing. I lost over 30 jobs/promotions to “affirmative action” hires who were NOT qualified, let alone more qualified than I was. I totally support EQUAL rights and indeed an affirmative action plan that gives supplemental education for those who need to “catch up” before being given a job, or position, in work or college, but putting the unqualified ahead “just because”, isn’t rational, helpful to them, or “affirmative”. Clarence Thomas and George W. Bush are perfect examples of “affirmative action” we call “legacy”, or “connections”, a sucky situation indeed.
