I used to love the library but then I got a job and could afford to buy my books and not have to wait for someone to return the one I wanted to read. Plus no missing or torn pages in the books that I buy. And now with my Kindle I can push a button and start reading the book immediately.

Books are still a wonderful adventure. I would not recommend Stephen King for a child, DevilsKnight. The only King books I really enjoyed were the Dark Tower series (which reminds me, must get it again from the library…)

I’m willing to wait for a book that I just want to read and not have in my library. BUT if I find a book that I like well enough, it will become part of my library. A kindle is nice and all, but nothing beats a book in your hand, reading. Don’t have to worry about “recharging” the battery if accidently left on too long.

It was a book that helped me make my career choice – “Introduction to Data Processing”, and a book that helped me choose my favorite life-long hobby – “The 1000 Best Short Games of Chess”.

There are two books I would just LOVE to get.

One is set during the American Revolution (a woman takes over the spy job of her late husband, forced to marry a man, Captain ?, who blames her husband for his wife’s death, ends with a Frenchman’s Iroquois blood brother killing Captain ? saving the Frenchman who leaves for Canada with the lady spy).

The other is one with a series of horror stories (one story has a woman who tries to get back her boyfriend by first stalking him, sees him with a redheaded girl, then goes to a magic shop in an attempt to get the redheaded owner to use magic to get rid of her boyfriend’s redheaded girlfriend, warned by the female redheaded owner not to do magic that could harm others, looks up how to do black magic online, uses black magic, finds a horrible smell in her apartment that lasts 3 days, boyfriend calls that his girlfriend, the redhead, is in the hospital, girl is happy her magic works, plans on making sure her boyfriend’s girlfriend never wakes up, the girl is driving to the hospital when she smells something bad in her car just before it is broadsided by a big truck, finds herself in a limbo state, sees the redheaded owner of the magic shop and finds out she is her boyfriend’s girlfriend, the redheaded girls tells the girl that what she planned for her will come back on her 3 times more, story ends with the redhead telling her boyfriend that his ex-girlfriend is in a permanent coma due to a medical mix-up and the redheaded girl smiling to herself how she dealt with this girl and saved her boyfriend).

But Addy, all parents are products of the Stone Age, right? Even if they were born into a world with TV. At least, that’s always the impression that you get from kids.
