Ford ruined the T-bird in ‘58, then ruined the Mustang as well. It’s improved again, but Shelby did the right thing with the basic design, not Ford. (BTW, “Bullet” wouldn’t have kept up, and likely would have been the one flying into the gas station if driving a showroom STOCK Mustang.)
^With my ’65 Corvair Corsa 140 hp, I could run away and hide from Mustangs with no problem on Solo II courses. Also, in addition to better handling, it was the safest car built in the U.S. from ’65 ’til end of production. My sister in law proved the last point by getting hit by a gravel truck that had a green light when she ran a red. (Her typical driving style!)

Ford finally stepped up and put the quality in that they were always capable of. Now I’m the proud owner of 2014 Explorer.
