There’s always truth, lies, and statistics. People will use statistics in any way to drive their narrative. This is why I typically don’t listen to politicians.

To quote Mark Twain, “There are lies, damn lies, and statistics”..From the WaPo blog (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/wp/2014/04/09/president-obamas-persistent-77-cent-claim-on-the-wage-gap-gets-a-new-pinocchio-rating/), .“The White House discovered this week that calculations using average wages can yield unsatisfactory results. McClatchy newspapers did the math and reported that when the same standards that generated the 77-cent figure were applied to White House salaries, women overall at the White House make 91 cents for every dollar men make. White House spokesman Jay Carney protested that the review “looked at the aggregate of everyone on staff, and that includes from the most junior levels to the most senior.” But that’s exactly what the Census Department does.”.The blog awards Obama 2 Pinocchios for this statement.

And both are smaller than the gap between Obama’s ears…

The White House salaries are government jobs and set by regulation, and based strictly on the job title and experience, and are transparent. Which is why the gap is so much smaller than in the private sector, where it’s also largely due to gender and race.

The following two quotes are from a 2009 study commissioned by the U.S. Department of labor.

“There are observable differences in the attributes of men and women that account for most of the wage gap. Statistical analysis that includes those variables has produced results that collectively account for between 65.1 and 76.4 percent of a raw gender wage gap of 20.4 percent, and thereby leave an adjusted gender wage gap that is between 4.8 and 7.1 percent.”

“However, despite these gains the raw wage gap continues to be used in misleading ways to advance public policy agendas without fully explaining the reasons behind the gap.”

Once again Obama and his minions are lying to the people in order to secure votes from the ignorant.
