@Bruce, @Born, neither of you get it.The ideal is that one parent — of EITHER sex — could support a whole family. You are making assumptions as to which sex can or should be working. I don’t. I think there are men who are better child-rearers and women who are better earners. It is unfortunate that today, in the US, most families have to have two working parents, and that has all sorts of effects — but it is WORSE that women are disadvantaged here, since there are plenty of single moms out there who had to fight for their family after escaping abusive marriages, for example.

Men have an X chromosome too, so the Y chromosome is actually MORE valuable than the 77% figure would suggest:
2X = 0.77 x (X + Y)2X / 0.77 = 0.77 x (X + Y) / 0.771.54X = X + Y1.54X – X = X + Y – X0.54X = Y
Therefore, an X chromesome earns only 0.54 cents for every dollar a Y chromosome earns.
