You can get a second opinion, from a tax lawyer or CPA, but it will probably be cheaper to pay what the IRS says.
My wife and I have had dealings with the IRS several times over the years. We’ve found the IRS personnel to be polite and helpful, more than willing to work with us, and nowhere near the malevolent types they are so often portrayed as.
Come to H&R Block we will give a second look free. The IRS does make mistakes.
and therein lies the rub, with bureaucrats……alas they are growing in numbers every day due to the bumbling so-called leaders…..
