However, he still has family, friends and admirers. We should be aware of that and speak no evil of the dead. It simply isn’t that hard to be decent.

No. But … how is pointing out the true manner of his death ‘speaking ill’ of him ..?

Suicide is not necessarily a one-moment thing. It is quite possible to commit slow, steady suicide. Lots of people do it.

Its too bad some people are so narrow minded and cruel that can’t see how his death offers another opportunity to remind people that drugs like heroin effect people of all walks of life and are not limited by things like class and race..Since doctor warbucks and harleyquinn have gone out of their way to make internet trolls look bad they should be the ones to explain it.

I can honestly say I have never seen any of his films and had no mental picture to attach his name to until this past Monday. OTOH, I knew the gentleman who played Nellie Olsen’s father from many movies and TV shows over the years. His name has escaped me, of course, but I know he was married a long time to his wife with whom he worked occasionally.I gave up worrying about Oscars a lo-o-ong time ago when it occurred to me that none of my favourite actors or movies ever won.
