    Used to be that kids did not learn fractions until seventh grade. My kid was learning them this year in third grade.By the way, I’m old enough to be her grandma.

    When I was 9 years old I think teachers were still saying “whole numbers”. They did use the term integer before I reached high school though. BTW, I was born in 1954.

    I just looked at the book, frown and put it aside and then say… “This is how we USED to do it.” When the kid came home with an “F” and a scowl, I’d say, “If you have any questions, I’ll be here, or you can ask your teacher in school before coming home.”
