Ah, this girl is familiar with the old Duffy strip, she’s using Miles’ (Duffy’s colleague, not known for honesty) rewording strategies.
For those unfamiliar with Duffy, the following specific (1983 or so) strip description:
Duffy, in the annual report sees that Miles’ group has put out a lot of false figures, and asks Miles thrice about specific numbers he knows to be false, which Miles answers with:
“harmless exxageration” “reasonable extrapolation” “fudged a little”
