You said, very succinctly, what I have been trying to say ever since this bunny madness has been sprung on us!.The evil bunnies are not caricatures of anything or anyone. That’s why I find this strip so confusing!.For instance: IF Hunny Bunny is supposed to be Hillary Clinton, does that mean Kevin is supposed to be Bill?.When Kevin was ranting on how Obamacare was so evil that he (Kevin) should have thought of it/gotten credit for it/demanded credit for it (ran that arc into the ground)….And the current arc, which appears to be about campaign finance reform, well, here we go again! No such thing as too much money – well, that would make the bunnies Republicans! But wait! I thought the bunnies were supposed to be Democrats!.And if the evil bunnies are supposed to be Democrats, then just how did Carmen the Republican get sucked up into this mess in the first place?.Ah, but NG49, good buddy, you have already noted all of the above..The point of this post is something else. A possible explanation for the deterioration of this strip and a possible harbinger of things worse to come..Several other posters have noted that Scott Stantis no longer does this strip, that it is being done by Eric Allie, instead..Now, I know little to nothing about Eric, but I did go to cagle.com to view some of his political cartoons. The website seemed dysfunctional, but I did manage to get it to cough up a couple of cartoons..The couple of cartoons I saw were definitely right-of-center, but so was Prickly City all the way back to day one. That didn’t bother me (even though I am a liberal)..What bothered me was the vitriol in the comments. Both right and left. But mostly the right..I fear that is what is migrating to Prickly City..Now, has Eric done vitriolic political cartoons, I can’t say. cagle.com was not cooperative the day I sampled his work. But if he has, then, what more can I say? This is the future of Prickly City..But regardless, one thing for sure: This is now the Eric era, and Carmen and Winslow aren’t his characters; they were Scott’s. Eric’s characters are Kevin and Hunny Bunny..Carmen and Winslow are now in the background. And speaking of backgrounds, we are no longer in the Arizona dessert; we are now in Washington, D.C., and a D.C. that looks a lot like Doonesbury if you ask me..And, even though I’m a liberal, I’ve long stopped reading Doonesbury..I like intelligent discussion of both sides of the issues. I have friends who are conservatives. I hope there are conservatives who have friends who are liberals..And talking together, hopefully, someday, we can work together..Because neither of us can do this alone..It’s not my country, it’s not your country; this is our country..Last, and certainly least, the reason I still hold out hope for this comic strip:.On Sunday, Eric still gives us a Prickly City reminiscent of Scott and the good old days..The Australian rabbits haven’t yet invaded Sunday’s outback!
Boy, Australian rabbits operates on more than one level!.Isn’t Rupert Murdoch, of FOX News, and other abominations, an Australian? And yet, to question the Australian is now considered un-American!
Sounds as if Winslow’s last question may be directed at readers. Not that it bothers me, but I don’t think I would have ever thought ‘coyote’ when I first set eyes on him if I hadn’t known beforehand that that’s what he is.
