John Kerry: Okay, stage one was unscrambling the eggs back into distinct yolk and white, to be followed by reinsertion into and repair of the shell... Man: Is this real?
Not to put too fine a point on this, but unbreaking eggs is exactly what we did with Japan, Germany, and Viet Nam. There’s something to be said for learning from history…
Three choices (1): Keep out of it so that Iran can get nukes without interference. (2): Make war against Iran before they get nukes. (3): Make a deal like this one. Everyone who hates #3, please tell us which of the other two you prefer, and why.
@Enoki: Iran did sign the non-proliferation treaty. Every activity they’ve been proven to engage in is legal under it. It’s Israel that’s been accusing them of going outside the treaty and us carrying their water for them. That’s why it’s so hard to get a deal, because everything Iran is doing is already legal and we’re making demands outside of the treaty.
Michael wme: What do you mean “we”, kemo sabe? Study history. “We” (US) never ratified the Versailles Treaty. The Republican senate voted it down. We are still legally at war with the Second German Empire (and since no treaty has even been proposed, with the Third as well)..Versailles was essentially a vengeance act in which the US refused to participate. Look at the results shortly later (1930s and ’40s) over the Saar. Not to mention WW-II and after resulting from giving Japan the Carolines and carving up the Middle East from the Ottomans, between Britain, France, and Italy.
My mistake on the NPT sorry on that. As for the rest: What reason does Iran have to enrich uranimum beyond about 5% if all they are doing is commercial power production?
@ Debt Free: Who’s stopping Israel from doing anything? Israel is not involved in this deal. Your (4) is beside the point.
@ Harley: We specifically refrained from bombing Kyoto in WWII because of its importance to the Japanese. We avoided bombing the Vatican also even while attacking Italy.
Destroying Mecca would be an incredibly bone-headed thing to do, considering that one quarter of the world’s population consider it a holy city they are bound by their faith to make a pilgrimage to. Bombing Mecca would seem to them much worse than destroying the Rome and the wiping out the hierarchy of the Catholic Church would be to Roman Catholics, worse than obliterating New York would be to Americans. And the world contains about five times as many Muslims as Americans. Not to mention the 2,600,000 Americans who ARE Muslims.
^Not to mention the Saudis might get “ticked” and cut off our oil, just as would all the other nations with both oil and more than 2 Muslims in their population.
Pure putrid hatred by “hypo-Christians” just keeps getting worse, and the only reason they get upset if anyone says anything about Israeli’s attacks on folks is they’re counting on a mythical even in a book of myths, called by evangelicals “rapture”. (When all Jews either accept Jesus, or burn in Hell, which IS in itself “interesting”, like the group “W” just spoke to whose mission is to convert Jews to Jesus.)
Here’s a plan. Do the old nudge nudge wink wink with Muslim nations telling them you will not intervene if they move against Israel and then arm the Muslims nations to the hilt. Then after they annihilate Israel, use that as an excuse to kill every Muslim on the planet. Problem solved.
