Even for a comic strip, this is wonderful fantasy! Look out good little boys and girls, Santa Skinner is on his way.

Deck Us All With Boston Charlie fans: Next Saturday night, from 9 PM to midnight Chicago time, WFMT will air the Midnight Special – and the Saturday before Christmas, Rich Warren almost always plays a private recording of the WFMT staff singing Boston Charlie..For the reader a couple weeks back who asked, “What’s a WFMT?”: It’s Chicago’s classical music radio station, but not on Saturday nights when Rich Warren takes over..If you have a computer or a smart phone, stream it! If you live close enough to Chicago, pick it up live!

When I first saw Slim last week, I was worried that we were about to go back to Slim’s problem with the dog – oh, and Giacomo, too!.Yes, Gkid, you gotta love Slim!

Another old time radio connection. “up, up, and away!” is from the Superman radio show.

Old Timer: For what it’s worth, I happen to think SUSAN NEWMAN is right on today!.The only time Slim let me down was when he dumped Lucky the cat, an old time Gasoline Alley character, for Dog-Zilla! But I think that was Jim’s fault because he intends to turn the regular story arcs into a mutation of Marmaduke!.As for Slim’s relatives, I agree with Susan again! Absolutely all of them are insufferable – not just his daughter, but his wife, Clovia, as well!.Someone said it last summer (during the Old Comics Retirement Home) – this strip is best when it’s trying to be something else..And right now, I happen to enjoy the fact that Slim is going to be a substitute Santa!
