As I recall, they didn’t survive crashes very well. They were on my top five list of vehicles I hated to write estimates on, right up there with vans with murals on the side.
In the 70’s my brother had Rubin. Rubin was purchased from my uncle, my mother painted the bus and airbrushed an Arizona desert scene on the sides. She did the interior dash, door and panel metal in hand painted tortoise shell finish, kept original chrome handles and fixtures.

I have an ’87 syncro – not the same as a micro-bus, but one of the coolest vehicles ever. And it has heat!

Those four cylinder bug motors were not big enough for that size vehicle..I had a mini-van with just four mice, I mean cylinders..\\//_
