So…..then prove where it’s wrong. Already hundreds of thousands have lost healthcare because Obamacare wrote the ACA to make it impossible for insurance companies to comply to it. And in comparison….HOW many people have signed up for Obamacare vs those that are losing it?

The whole point of the ACA is to make sure everyone has good insurance. The policies being cancelled are junk, incapable of covering anything. I always took the remark as if you have decent insurance, and affordable, then you can keep it. After all, it’s a forced market based solution. But it makes sense if you have junk, then the junk gets cancelled..

Nailed it! But, I’m sure most of the cons on this site won’t see it. They are too blinded by anger and ignorance.

The republicans tried to derail social security back in 1944,but after dec. 7th forgot all about it.

The Wall Street Journal is not to be trusted for facts about ACA. It is owned by Rupert Murdoch, after all. If you need more proof, look up their publication of Suzanne Sommers’ op-ed, which is based on the premise that ACA is socialized medicine, which is actually the antithesis of ACA.

And please see my response to Mikefive regarding rationing/death panels, etc. Thank you.

“I am German, we had universal healthcare since 1886. We have a thriving industry of HMOs and our doctors live well, as do the patients. I pay 13% of my income for healthcare but what i get is worth that price, believe you me!”

Confirms what my Bavarian inlaws tell me. I have no reason to doubt them; when the kids go back to Germany, they deal with their medical and dental issues. They do have employer coverage here now, but it seems to me that whatever warts it might have, it’s very far superior to what we’ve had here. I don’t expect anything to change here soon, though if this thing is bad enough, there is a tiny chance that a catastrophic failure might get us something usable. I’m now on MediCare, but it is costing a good bit more than 13% of our income. That has nothing to do with ObamaCare, though the GOP has been chipping away at MediCare at every opportunity. It’s the best the US has, but it suffers the same limitations all US healthcare does, which is to say that the insurers control it, and the government gives the insurers whatever they want.

Patients take what they can get.

“The IPAB is essentially a health-care rationing body. By setting doctor reimbursement rates for Medicare and determining which procedures and drugs will be covered and at what price, the IPAB will be able to stop certain treatments its members do not favor by simply setting rates to levels where no doctor or hospital will perform them.”

Yup. But that’s not new. It’s just more of the same. Which is what we are objecting to.

Whatever this thing is, it’s NOT ‘health care reform’. It’s just a reshuffling of the terms and policies which changes nothing material – for patients and doctors at least.

“If patients and doctors have no common sense as to rationing of care, then someone must step in….”

“Common sense as to rationing of care ..” Really? Rationing care to whom ..? To Congress? To Industry Moguls?

There really must be something wrong with my thinking processes, because I have the idiotic notion that qualification for health care and treatment should be – a condition requiring treatment.

Why would anyone agree to bureaucrats, politicians and insurance clerks controlling their medical care?

I want to be treated by my doctor, for the condition from which I am suffering. Apparently that’s too much to expect.

Got my letter this week telling me my insurance was being cancelled because of the Affordable Healthcare Act. The coverage I’m now being offered thru the CA exchange isn’t as good as what I had. So how does canceling my insurance help someone else get coverage? But, being a 55 year old man, I am relieved to know that I, personally, am covered for pediatric dental and maternity care…I’m sure I’ll use these benefits!

“.And surely no liberal wants insurance companies forced out of business because obamacare FORCED them to offer policies that they couldn’t comply with. Or do you?”

Why are you so protective of the insurance companies? What makes you think they need your defense?

I’d be delighted to see the insurers go out of business. They are parasites, and they have no business in the health care field. Worse, they’ve corrupted the politics in this country.

We are a capitalist country, right? We operate on a free market, which we consider central to our existence, right?

So – why is it OK for the government to force us by law to purchase any commercial product? That is not free market commerce, which is what I support.

“…….Why do you (MortyForTyrant) insert yourself in the problems of the United States? I don’t give a hoot about what happens in Germany. So mind your own business!….”.Always hillarious to have an American whining about foreign interference, even in the funny pages. I wonder how many personal emails the U.S. read today?.And Merkel thinks the U.S. cares too much about what happens in Germany, and wishes they would mind their own business.

Difference is the “tea party lies” are logical conclusions of the law itself. Obama’s hose is a actual real lie.
