True, the republicans who run the House, whence come all financial bills, MUST learn to control their spending. Doubt it, though. They have to buy their voters with all that pork.

Simple fact: the “debt” has continued to increase, in large part due to INTEREST PAYMENTS, many to U.S. BANKS! Another fact: the “DEFICIT” has been coming DOWN since Obama took office, inheriting "W"’s bills the first couple years in fact.

and @ansonia‘Give up, no one will ever fall into your trap.’-Why is it a trap? Because an honest answer is embarrassing? -Enoki, at least, formulated an answer. Despite some hedging and deflecting blame from the TSE Party toward Obama, he stated that it was a bad thing.-You and Ansonia, on the other hand, won’t take a position. You both are enthusiastic about expressing hatred of Obama, stating that whatever closes down was Obama’s choice and it was done to hurt people. -As if closing a memorial was causing maximum pain for people. -Whatever site Rafael Cruz and Sarah Palin showed up at, well, that would have been ‘Obama causing pain for people’.-Many Republicans ran on a platform of shutting down the government. Fox “news”, and therefore Fox “news” viewers, cheered them on the whole time.-Then, when they succeeded in shutting down the government, it was somehow Obama’s fault. And Obama was causing people pain by closing parts of the government that inconvenienced someone who wanted to visit a park or a monument. -And don’t worry. In three months, you’ll have another chance to refuse to answer one more time.

“Our motto should be what JFK said: “It’s not what your country can do for you, it’s what you can do for your country.” We are doomed if we don’t get back to this.”-In the primaries of the last presidential election, Republican Rick Santorum repeated that quote and said it made him sick.

You are correct. My bad. I confused that with Santorum’s comment that JFK’s speech on separation of church and state made him want to throw up. -I’ll try to be more careful.

Ansonia, why do you expect people to answer your questions, given that you run away (like you did on the 10/14 Tom Toles thread) when people ask you questions?http://www.gocomics.com/tomtoles/2013/10/14/

I still don’t understand why it’s a trap question.-“It’s a bit hypocritical to demand people to answer a question you won’t answer.”-I asked whether Fox “news” viewers thought the shutdown was a good thing or a bad thing. My answer is that it is/was a bad thing. Bad, as in stupid, unnecessary, costly, disruptive, and very divisive. -It was extra stupid because the initial objective to defund and/or delay Obamacare was not achieved, and when it was not a different objective was ginned up.-I don’t have a list of Republicans who ran on a platform of shutting down the government, but there were several. Mark Meadows was one. He also told a crowd that ’we’ll send him back to Kenya or wherever he’s from’ (approximate quote).-And there were many reports of Republican legislators expressing glee when the shutdown happened, including some clips from Michelle Bachmann. -So. Republicans pushed for and were successful in shutting down the government. I asked the Fox “news” viewers on these boards if they thought it was good or bad. Mostly, their response was either none, or another attack on Obama. -Your answer was:“All shutdowns have good and bad aspects. That’s my answer.” I found plenty of bad aspects, no good ones. Maybe you can identify what you thought was good about this shutdown. Or is that another trap?

    >sigh< People who voice their opinions on politics need to stop basing their views on radio talk shows, opinionated blogs, cartoons, imaginative scenarios, and political party propaganda and rhetoric. This all tends to enhance stupidity and perpetuate bigotry.
