I’ve been reading this strip since sometime around the beginning and I dunno whether I’ve ever seen Axel’s whole body on all fours like that….looking so much like a… dog…. or a wolverine.

Maybe we were shown his feet to distract us from how lame the joke is.
He looks like an aardvark to me. A wolverine is much more like a tall mink or a badger with long legs.
He must me be “the elephant man” of the wolverine world!
