Didn’t Slim & Clovia have a dog like this back in the 80’s?

If the dog was an Airedale, would GA readers accept him, or would he be too much like Sandy? This strip doesn’t remind me of Marmaduke at all. Giacomo (Italian for James) is just an ornery, untrained, big dog, and I like him. Today’s strip is funny. Yes, Joeytrom, they did have a dog like Giacomo and also a doberman.

Giacomo isn’t ornery. He’s just overly friendly and untrained. I’m going to guess he does something to redeem himself at some point.

Whenever the story stars slim it is always very stupid and boring. Enough of this stupidity. Please no more Rufus and Joel either.

Well, I must say that now that Gretchen and her seedy boyfriend are gone, there is hope for improvement in the story arc. I happen to find the DOG to be a pretty damn good addition to the Slim/Clovia story lines. I think the dog will keep things a bit livelier. I also liked the botanically oriented professor character that Slim visited a few months ago too. But, of course, and without a doubt, I would also relish the RETURN of Joel and Rufus…. either in their own story arc, or joining in the Slim/Clovia arc.
