How is Obama leading when he’s constantly campaigning? Or golfing? Or vacationing? It’s certainly not when he’s ignoring the Constitution and bypassing it to make up his own laws and rules as he goes along.
Hmm, piano guy, Boehner stands at 119 rounds in the same period Obama played 34. Not to mention Boehner’s 1010 $83,000 in green fees! Yep, right, bring up golf again.
The work of ‘art’ on that canvas has a value in the billions as it represents the effort made to create an environment in which the “job creators” feel secure to invest in hiring, infrastructure, and innovation. It has a a value well over a trillion in its depiction of the damage done to the US and World Economy by party first, nation second politicians. It displays the confidence young Americans who have spent a fortune on educations for which there are few if any jobs within the borders of the USA and who must take low paying jobs and in too many cases, live with their parents long after those of us who lived in better economies were able to buy our own homes and start families. And while the canvas may well represent what the Republicans have done, that solid gold frame with its opulent design and too expensive tooling was contributed by the Democrats.Party first, nation second. Money first, people last. Donors first, voters second.Have you written to your legislators recently?Respectfully,C.
So, Bush could govern on vacation so his vacations don’t count, but Obama somehow can’t govern on vacation so it’s okay to complain about his vacations? That doesn’t make any sense at all, and you should have seen that before you posted.
I’ve gotta stand up for MsKemple. She correctly pointed out that Presidents don’t really take vacations. It’s fair to point out that the current harping on Bush’s vacation is generally in response to the ridiculous right wing harping on Obama’s golf time. There were quite a few left wingers harping on Bush’s vacation time while he was in office. I wish the right would take the high road. It’s fair to call them on it when they don’t.Unlike some, MsKemple acknowledges facts & is always polite on the forums. You usually are, but comments like this ain’t helping the cause!
The only reason the left keeps hammering Bush’s vacation time is because by leaving out chosen facts they can spin it into a sound bite!I appreciate that you understand the talk about vacation time is irrelevant. But, right at the top of the thread, we see PianoGuy saying, “How is Obama leading when he’s constantly campaigning? Or golfing? Or vacationing?”Elsewhere we have Mstevenson: “Obama wouldn’t notice if the government shut down. None of the golf courses are on federal land.”Similar comments show up multiple times every day. It’s kind of hard to ignore. Pretending the job doesn’t follow every President 24/7 was silly in 2004, but it’s even sillier to attack Obama for being on vacation less than Bush.
Vacations, golf rounds, etc aren’t relevant to popularity. What is relevant is what has been accomplished. Despite Tea Party ideas that Obama’s accomplishments are either minimal or sure to destroy America, depending on which mood they are in at the moment ( since both “facts” obviously can’t be true)—- HE IS POPULAR simply because the majority of the American people are pretty much happy with what he has done.
There aren’t enough Senate votes to pass the House bill & even if there were, Obama would veto it. The House GOP chose to demand repeal/defunding for about the 50th time, despite serious consequences for not passing a spending bill, including damage to the economy & our national credit rating. This obsession with repealing the ACA sounds like a kid asking for the same thing over & over & over, when he knows the answer is still, “No.”Wouldn’t you prefer your Reps focus on the achievable before they attempt the impossible?
I think you guys whine, cry and scream that that is welfare when the benefactor is not to your liking.I think you mean benefitee? Benefitor?? Whatever the case, one of the common differences I see between liberals & conservatives is that conservatives are more… skeptical that those unlike them share similar values & goals.
MsK missed the boat on the fact that the current obsession with Presidential R&R is driven by the right, but she at least admitted that it’s misplaced. That shows loads more awareness than some folks here display, not to mention a lot more humanity in some of her posts.I always enjoy your posts. Rock on, my friend!

He’s gotten further than Obama on his art project… Obama hasn’t even bothered to go to the art store yet.

My only issue with Obama’s vacation is that he doesn’t take enough. 365 days a year is about right and we’d be better off for it.
