My dad has spoken of a time when he was a youth, they had a rat cornered behind the kitchen stove. They looked for the old cat, but couldn’t him. There was a kitten/young cat at hand, they him go in behind the stove. After a whole lot of thrashing around the little cat dragged the body of the rat out from behind the stove.About that time old Tom came along, and he tried to take the rat away.Didn’t work out for him though..\\//_

That is one massive rat. Even in Philadelphia there aren’t that many rats larger than a cat.

We don’t have many rats here. Mice but don’t think I have ever seen a rat.

The blank eyes on Spock are VVC (Very Very Creepy). He’s definitely focused on his adversary.

Some cats are mousers, and some cats are ratters. The ratters usually aren’t very friendly or pet-like, not very domesticated.

Cats tend to go for the back of the neck of their prey simply to sever the spine. Dogs on the other hand, go for the throat. I have a black cat like Spock that my daughter called Sam ( otherwise known to the rodent world as “Son of…”). This cat is still apparently a very good ratter despite his ever increasing weight.
