The federal government has been taking over public education for many years. The latest assault is the Common Core Curriculum. It would be one thing to guarantee that every child graduates with a certain minimum preparedness, but anyone who finishes work too quickly is expected to sit quietly until everyone catches up, so the minimum tends to become the norm.
If you can afford it, send your little darlings to private school; if you can’t afford it and have the ability, home-school them. And if you can’t do either, weep for their future.

Our first grandchild is due in 30 days, and our daughter-in-law affirms an intention to home school. I admire her for the effort.
