I have yet to meet anyone that when face with what they consider dire circumstances has not turned to God. I have meet those that have denied doing so but they where called on it but those who know them best. And it can be said that people without religion are evil, soul dead, deluded and self-destructive.
Perhaps. But, even if you are correct, it helps people make sense of things that they just don’t understand. Why do you wish to take that away from other people?
I think you are assuming he is using the term ‘hardwired’ in the same manner you are. I believe the term ‘hardwired’ can also be used in reference to something that was built, not evolved, i.e. ‘I hardwired the drive into the system’.
I would take his post to be using the term in that manner.
I do wonder if the ‘toon isn’t putting words, or belief, in Elmor’s “mouth”.
In combat and as an EMT and rescuer turned body recoverer, I’ve run into folks in “dire circumstance” who did not turn even then to “God”, especially the Judeo-Christian-Islamic one.
Denis: you need to watch the excellent PBS three part program on Mohammed! Islam, like Christianity, and the Jewish faith, even Buddhism, has been interpreted, and changed, sometimes RADICALLY, from what the source intended. It’s especially “interesting” when considering those claiming “the books” are the unaltered and perfect direct words of “God”, when not even in the language originally written, or spoken in!!
^Elmore was a great and creative writer, and THAT is where the credit should lie. These constant “pearly gates” cartoons are worn out projections from the religious right.
I’m waiting for when the Dalai Lama passes on and Payne and the fundamentalists show HIM at those “pearly gates”!!

Question – []How is it that a cartoon meant to honor the man so rapidly descended into a slap fight?
