Just an aside on your examples. I don’t consider myself poor, but until I was about 30 I didn’t fly, rent hotel rooms, or rent cars, because I couldn’t afford it. Sometimes your world is different from the world you criticize.

Actually, that’s false. After the election, several news agencies did the recounts, including the Miami Herald and the Washington Post. Using the standards for which Gore had sued, Bush still won.

This kind of argument has been going on for a long time. Back in the 1940s, when my father was involved in politics in Colorado, the Democrats and the Republicans had a big tussle over what to do with the people who were in line to vote at the moment the polls closed. Most of those who voted late were Democrats, because they had jobs they couldn’t leave during the day. So the Republicans wanted to say that voting was closed, period, at 8:00. Nobody should vote after that. The Democrats said if you were in line you should be able to vote. As I recall, the compromise the voting commission reached was that if you were in line in the building, then you could vote, but if you were in line outside the building you couldn’t vote. John Carroll, a Democrat, won, and that’s why I was born in Washington, D.C. instead of Denver.

And it wouldn’t have made ONE piss-ants worth of a difference for Al Gore…All the Supreme Court did was stop Al Gore’s hostage taking of America with recount after recount UNTIL he found a way for it to work for him. Which by the way, it wouldn’t have.

Except that The SCOTUS STOPPED the recount before it was completed, so your comment and your sarcasm are equally incorrect and idiotic.

Perhaps not racist, but the “I’ve got mine, so everything is fine” attitude is certainly “classist.” Not all people know how to drive, or can afford a car, or live in a place where a car is necessary, or perhaps they are too old to drive, so many people don’t have driver’s licenses.Sorry that some of your tax dollars (and I’m sure you make sure that the gov’t gets as few of those as possible) go to help the poor or elderly, but plenty more go to boondoggle military spending and tax cuts for billionaires, of which I’m sure you approve.

Just because you don’t like a person’s attire, look, thoughts, or political ideals, doesn’t mean that you or the government gets to tell them that they cannot vote. That is what is right, that is what is moral.

Has anybody heard what the very un-popular republican governor has done in North Carolina? He has made things so..difficult to vote, cut the hours of voting cut by 2/3-rds the amount of polling places and even declared that one citizen of 6 years in a county can’t vote because he doesn’t live there? Like living 6 years IN the county isn’t long enough to be considered living there/ He doesn’t have any other place he lives.

Gore couldn’t even carry his home state of Tennesee. Then Florida would’ve been a non-issue. Dems went out of their way to steal Florida, like declaring it for Gore when polling stations were still open, and LOST!

Your original post said nothing about an “official recount.” I was merely pointing out that a count had been done and revealed that even by the standards under which Gore sued, he would not have won. I fully agree that there was, after the final 2 verdicts in the SCOTUS, no further recount by election officials.
