There’s an old Bugs Bunny cartoon: he accidentally gets drafted and a doctor gives him an eye test. Told to read the bottom line, Bugs reads the copyright notice underneath. The doctor has to get out a magnifying glass to confirm that Bugs is right.

Giving free medical to space cavemen and other aliens? That’s what we get for enacting Obamacare!

Superman (Clark Kent) flunked his Army physical when he was drafted. He accidentally used his Xray vision to read the eyechart in the next room…

If I recall the joke, she rants at him “I’m not illiterate, I was born in this country!”

“They did the same thing in a Superman comic during the 1950s”…As I recall, Clark Kent actually read the eye chart in the next room, so Clark was rejected because he was wrong on just about every letter. :-)

That’s right – I’ve got that story in one of my collections. Superman got real nasty in the Silver Age books, didn’t he…

Back when my eyes were still young, I could see that all the eye charts were made by ACME. Always wondered what they’d do to the Coyote!
