Good morning Vagabonds.Looks like everyone went to bed early. Tried to cut my front lawn twice yesterday afternoon (several hours apart) and each time I went out it started to rain just enough that you would get wet and then it would stop. I’ll try again this morning. It’s not supposed to rain but can you believe them?
Woke up at 5 a.m. today. So, I’ll do my ‘toon tour and even have breakfast, and probably feel sleepy around 9 or 10, and catch a nap.
Our yearly physicals went very well. Have to go in for the “fasting” blood work Monday or Tuesday. All should go well that way, too.
Our “local” Air National Guard (Great Falls) is phasing out the F-15’s, and they are going to Fresno CA, and we’ll be getting some C-130’s from Texas by January or so. They will be sending the F-15’s two by two for the next few weeks until they are all there. The nice thing…….the first flight left yesterday around 1:00 p.m., and they buzzed the airport here in Helena. (we have an Army National Guard they are connected to at our airport). They did a few passes and then flew directly over our house! How EXCITING that was! I’m gonna miss those F-15’s. But, the C-130’s are another favorite aircraft. Bittersweet.
Good morning, everyone. I began my fast at 5 PM on Friday night and taped over the bathroom switch so I wouldn’t turn it off by accident (we can’t use electricity on holy days. I took the subway and bus to my Manhattan synagogue and met my Turkish-Azeri house guest there. He’s Muslim and this was his first Yom Kipper service.. Everyone in my synagogue welcomed him – he was surprised it was gender egalitarian and that many of the talks were on the humorous side. There was a lot of standing up during the service and my legs hurt. I saw very few people sitting down at that time, but finally sat down unless it was during a really important part of the service. Yesterday I stayed home but fasted until 2:30 PM when my hunger got the better of me and had a small snack until the end of Yom Kippur at 7:48 PM.
Good morning Vagabonds. I don’t know when this strip is going to change.Arye: In regard to breaking your fast, in the catholic church if you are over a certain age or have a medical condition, you are not required to fast. If you want to try fasting but cannot go the entire time, there is nothing wrong with stopping early.
Good morning Vagabonds..It is Sunday, it is chilly 39 there abouts, may be a little sun later..I am not a Catholic, but I have observed Lent with a simifast. That being one meal a day, no soda, just fruit juice, no snacks, for 40 days. You know you can lose a lot of weight doing that..When I did that I was working nights, come Holy Week Thursday I’d start thinking about what might have been happening on that night 2000 yrs ago..Ok, may all your Holy Days be good..ttfn
Arye, glad you did well on your fast! How about the introspective aspect of Yom Kippur? I always like that about Lent……….Good meditations throughout. Woodworker is right about not worrying about breaking your fast after a certain age. I grew up Catholic, and couldn’t wait until I got old enough to not have to fast! Now that it’s here…………:))
Arye, what I forgot to mention about fasting is that we do not abstain from eating like you do. When we fast we eat no meat and our main meal cannot exceed the total of the other two meals and only enough to sustain us. Some do go without eating for the day but it is entirely voluntary.

Good morning, Vagabonds.
David, have a wonderful time at your party. I only wish I could be there.
Rita, it sounds like you are enjoying a private air show.
Our monthly women’s group meeting is today, and I still haven’t figured out what to take for pot-luck. Wish me luck!
