Has anyone ever wondered exactly why the Augusta National Golf Club even exists? The only reason I can determine is to allow the 300-some-odd members to have the status of excluding the rest of humanity. If you can come up with another reason, I’d be appreciative to learn it.
Reply to ‘alleyoops’: Our retired men’s club (which schedules excellent speakers) allows women to attend any meeting free, but also recognizes that retired spouses often enjoy getting away from each other. Maybe ‘alleyoops’ has a nagging wife – IF he is still married. And Augusta National now has two female members.

Places that exclude people of either gender or for other reasons are fine by me, a woman, but they should never be used for public events.
