Better to remember him as he was when the movies were made. And the movies were made, as has been said, to promote his records and his brand in general. Even Julia Child initially made her cooking shows mainly to promote her cook books..Ah, I wonder if in some way all those people still exist, young and healthy, in their films — a la “The Purple Rose of Cairo.”
