Everybody is seeming to forget the arc a few months ago when Phil gave Mike his old trumpet.

I bet that Chris Botti didn’t have to complain when it came time for trumpet lessons, neither did Miles Davis.

Somehow Micheal, I think you’ll be able to forgive them for that. Being able to play a musical instrument is a worthwhile skill, even just from the standpoint of having to be diligent to practice, and the brain development involved in playing one. Keep at ’im Elly!

I have a friend who says he can’t respect any instrument that changes shape while you’re playing it. He also has a problem with keyboard instruments you have to wear.

Dave Marsden: Get a trumpet and a technique book and have at it. I am 80 and play in three community bands (two concurrently, but they are shut down for the third one’s season)..howtheduck: That’s how I interpreted it, being like Nanki Poo, “disguised as a second trombone” (Mikado, G&S). But the valve tuning slide on many brass instruments must be worked for some notes.
