Some words have assumed new meanings, like using “Patriot” in “Patriot Act”, using it as a match at the edge of the Constitution. And yes, both parties, under threat of being labeled as “traitors” if they did NOT vote for it, did.
Also, words such as “patriot”, and “conservative” have been used by folks and organizations calling for the overthrow of the IRS, NSA, and well, federal government, or government, period. It isn’t just “libertarian” but near treason on the part of many of these folks.
Also “odd” that these are the folks who claim “liberals” want to take away our rights, right.
All groups who want power fear the constitution. It says there are rights people are given by their creator, inalienable rights, that cannot be taken away by a government or a majority democracy. Very few people pay attention to this any more, but it is what the document says. sigh
