Pandering toTrolls is Payne’s strong point. Too bad he doesn’t have anything else to offer.

“But it’s OK that Obama does it, according to most of his supporters.”

Don’t be so sure. Although I will never be convinced that Mitt Romney would have been a better president, this administration’s penchant for disappointing knows no bounds. At least with Bush, I expected the worst, so I was not surprised. I had much higher hopes for Obama.

I’ll agree Bush was a terrible president. But seriously dude. Get a new line. All of your comments lately revolve around Bush being a worse president than Obama. It’s not a race. They are both terrible presidents.

asked caustically: “And how many papers carry your work?”

Absolutely none. I’m working in the new work paradigm announced decades ago: the paperless society. :-|

Payne works for a Detroit paper and his cartoons almost always feature cars (viz lonecat’s observations in prior threads) hence my comparison to an infamous Detroit failure.

But you’re right, he is quite successful and what surprises me about the “success” of his work is that it rarely offers great insight. There’s rarely any quality to it, in terms of content, ideas or even technique. It reveals a base understanding of the world around him. Of course I do know the secret of his economic success: he caters to the lowest common denominator of the right. He gives them the fodder they want: tabloid cartoonism.
