But they do. They weren’t doing their jobs, they were deliberately targeting people for harassment and persecution based on nothing more than their political views.
Hey, guys, Nero’s still fiddling. If this were the biggest problem with the US, we’d be so much better off……
And I will add my voice to the idea that no group whose primary purpose is to advance a political agenda should be allowed tax-free status, nor should it be allowed to hide the names of its donors, regardless of which political agenda it espouses.
Well, it turns out none of the groups were denied status, after review of their applications. A leak from the government was the target of the AP review, not suppression of reporter’s who still respect “classified” information that is such to protect lives, and the success of efforts in the “war on terror”.
Folks should also look back at how Edwin Meese III, among others, used the IRS to pursue folks of different “ideology”, as well as to escape prosecution for their OWN illegal activities and those of their “friends”. Like the involvement in “Iran/Contra” among other issues, like the war on drugs, with North and Meese backing Noriega in Panama. Yes, real history of “conservatism” in America does get really interesting with regard to “tyranny”.
Tyranny is not a boolean value. You can be a little bit tyrannical — a petty tyrant. Or you can be Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, etc., if you really work at it. Obama is not a prototypical tyrant, just a really bad president.
Language skills are not that important for the guys on the squad. The cheerleaders did their homework for them. But they must have read Orwell at some point to so fully appreciate the qualities of double-speak/think. That’s double-plus good irony this.
A few years back I traveled to Nicaragua and saw the torture rooms of the Contras where US money bought them the implements and training at the School of the Americas for effective techniques in torture. 20 years after Iran-Contra (Reagan’s real legacy), the scars are still there and the people are still armed and in the dirt streets of the mountains.

Riiight. Someone needs a vacation to a country with actual tyranny, so they don´t water down the expression.

Boo hoo hoo. Show this cartoon to a Syrian and they’ll help you reconsider what “pure tyranny” is.

Funny that Obozo Fan Club members here think there is no scandal, yet their leader said he is “Outraged” about this.
Hmm…….

I love how cons throw around the term tyranny. Obviously they don’t understand the definition. Much like the definition of Marxist.

You support government harassment of people for having political views you don’t like? .

Tyranny, like Charity, begins at home.
