The cartoon implies that the government is supposed to be the one who fixes the economy. I don’t disagree that it should play a key role, but there’s nothing here about how our business “leaders” are screwing things up as well.
The economy is the same as it was at the end of the Reagan administration, Good numbers, but the worker is left out of the profits swallowed up by the executives.
Um, it WAS Hoover’s fault. Just as it would have been McCain’s fault, if he had had the chance to do what Hoover did, which was to stop all government spending, taking away a large percentage of American commerce and plunging the US (and most of the world) into a depression instead of leaving it at a bad recession.
Yet another poster who can’t define the term ‘to lie’.
I would think that when Obama said those things, he naively thought that Congress wanted to put the country back on its feet, and expected to be met halfway.
Obviously he was mistaken. He did not LIE.
Look up the term ‘to lie’. It does not mean to be in error. Try to remember.
He’s not incompetent, Congress has been totally obstructive.
Since Congress categorically refuses to meet him halfway, I’d say it’s Congress which is incompetent. Their refusal to meet him is hardly his fault.
The ‘compromises’ he has made – that is, when he has given them what they want – have certainly been destructive, but they were not his idea by a long shot. Everytime he gives the GOP what they want, they scream it is wrong, and it was his idea. Wow, that’s honesty, eh?
It’s too bad they aren’t ethical enough to do the job they were elected to do and are being paid handsomely for doing, but they have to account to their corporate masters, don’t they?

The absolute gall of a conservative complaining about that boggles the mind.

And tell me you’ll stop blaming Obama the moment he leaves office. I need a good laugh.

If the totally irresponsible GOP would help, we could be over the Bush recession by now.

Howdy, All President Obama has come up with is total obstruction from the republican party who cannot allow him to succeed.

Remember the expression “It takes longer to crawl out of a hole than it does to fall into one.”It’s a perfect corollary to both 1936 and 2012.

My best friend and many others who can’t afford health insurance or have pre-existing conditions don’t feel the way you do about it.
