That’s what unchecked spending will do. Luckily the Dims here don’t control all the purse strings.

And a main reason for Europe’s problem is massive tax evasion in the Southern European countries. Couple that with severe austerity measures that have driven up unemployment, and the Eurozone is in danger of falling apart.

I’ve never been to Germany, but I think that they do have pretty good fiscal controls. It’s the reason they weren’t dragged down by the USA and the GFC, despite being mildly socialist for the last couple of generations. Your statement is not making much sense at all.Why should it suck to be me?

We do very well when you consider one demographic. And that is population. What many do not realize is that the USA is the third most populated country in the world. The first is China and the second is India. And neither of those countries has anywhere near the standard of living that we enjoy in the USA.However, over all the Scandinavian nations are considered to have the highest over all standard of living in the world, with Norway being the highest. It is no disgrace in any way to admit that others do better than we, especially as they have far less populations, and therefore far less inherent problems due to high populations. As for socialism, some of the best run and most profitable companies in the world are centered in these countries. What is also interesting is that while the GNP of the US is some $17 trillion (which is the greatest by far for a single country), the over all GNP of the EU is almost $20 trillion, so as profit making capitalists, they do not do too badly!
