My mortgage got sold and resold and it went back to the original place but with a new account number. I paid the payment with the new account number on the check and they sent it back with a letter with the old number, asking why I was paying on a mortgage that was paid off? I called them and explained and the woman went, ohhh—okay, I’ll take that late charge off. (Because the payment hadn’t gone through because they’d sent it back.) Uh yes, thank you, yes you will.
