Maybe this makes me old, but I do agree with this. It doesn’t bother me anymore when my friends who are a few years younger than I think that they’re better than I am for being younger. I actually am happy that I’ve made it this far, and I know I have more energy and look better than they do.
Having nearly died and spending 5 weeks in the hospital in December and January, I can vouch that celebrating being alive isn’t necessarily lowering the bar!

lowering the bar is not always a bad thing. The worst thing about it is if you drink too much, you face those stairs going up to the street level
