Years ago, domestic airlines had good food too. I used to be a frequent flyer, but I stopped flying when I could no longer bring my Swiss Army knife with me.
After ValuJet Flight 592 crashed into the Florida everglades, one alligator said to another “I don’t know why people complain about airline food. I like it.”.
Airline food….your sat there, can’t move about much and so don’t need much energy. Hence fewer carbohydrates; similarly with hospital food. Metal utensils? Not on any airline I’ve ever flown with, but then I can’t afford 1st class.

Airline food on non-U.S. airlines is delicious. And they give you metal utensils to eat with!
