As annoying as she is to most people grammarily, I do learn a lot from her. All except her driving habits.

Me, personally? I could care less. No, actually I couldn’t. Let’s move on to something else.

I grew up with an English teacher, and this is real life, folks. Be glad your dad was a plumber!

The sad reality of life today – while her methods are annoying, she is correct, but no one cares about being correct any longer.

He evidently wasn’t listening when he was a child: why would he listen now?

Joe may speak as he does on purpose to annoy her and does not care how he speaks grammaly correct English.

ugh. I truly hate these grammar police episodes. People don’t use letter perfect grammar when they talk. Joe’s mom needs to get a clue then go get a job working as a book editor and leave her family and friends alone.

She’s wrong anyway. Since she doesn’t have the ability to read Joe’s mind, she doesn’t know whether he couldn’t care less about the subject or he COULD care less but still needs to vent about it. Both are correct ways of expressing his opinion depending on how he actually feels about something.

I thought this was about gun control…Joe can’t even get a sentence out without his mother stopping him! Wow

I understand the thrust of the ‘humor’ in this arc, but this woman would be immensely unlikable in any part of the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland [pretty much any English-speaking nation] that has Regional dialects.

Being correct in print, when not quoting a ‘vernacular’, is absolutely necessary. I would love to see an entire town throw rotting vegetables at her after about 45 minutes of her ‘linguafacism.’

My dad was like this. I haven’t spoken to him in years. He also has no friends. Only my sister talks to him now.

Right with her when she drives and constantly correct her Joe. Mom better be careful before he stops talking to her except on Mother’s Day and her birthday.

Mom sees it as either of two possibilities. Either it’s right, or it’s wrong. When one cannot construct a grammatically correct statement, others subconsciously question the speakers ability to state facts. Every error chips a piece of your overall credibility away.
