As smart as Gunther is and he doesn’t understand sarcasm.

Sometimes when you have that much smarts some other things get sacrificed.

I think he probably understands sarcasm but he chooses to ignore it. Guaranteed to tick the person using it seriously off.

Think Sheldon. (Big Bang Theory) He still has problems recognizing sarcasm.
