Jillions of breath-freshening sprays, pastes, washes and flosses. Self-serve coffee, gas, food, lumber, photos, insurance, postage, check-in and check-out. Two powerful trends combine to define life in the year 2008: fresh breath and no one to breathe on.

Do it your self is not the death of face to face service. Having to face someone to get them to service you is the death of face to face service. It is easier to be rude if the person your being rude to can not punch you in the nose.

Yeah—kind of a conundrum, ain’t it? When Cathy finally confronts a person face-to-face, she ought to breathe in deeply and then let a huge breath go. If she’s feeling particularly feisty, she could conveniently “forget” the breath freshener, too! But, you all didn’t hear that from me …
