The first time my husband & I took a vacation together, I surprised him by packing lighter than he did! I only need 1 purse, maybe 2 shoes (1 dress, 1 casual…and one of those will be on my feet already); maybe a few pieces of jewelry in a small case.
I’m not one of those girls who has to bring a billion purses, shoes, or jewelry. I only use 1 purse, 1 pair of dress shoes if needed and a pair of casual shoes, and I don’t wear jewelry. The only thing I might over pack is books. You can never have to many!
I don’t pack much either. The most I have ever packed for a trip was when we went to Paris for an anniversary weekend. We went out to some nice restaurants, so I brought nice dresses and one extra pair of shoes to wear with them. No need for anything over-the-top, esp not to go to your in-laws’ house, Cathy! I always say that there are stores to buy things if there’s something I need or forget, but most of the time I never need to buy anything.

Just finished packing for myself – finished in about 10 minutes. Mind you it is for a camping weekend with the guys so not much needed at all. Took longer to make sure I had meds and sunscreen then picking clothing.
Off tomorrow morning for a fun weekend at the 44th annual High School Drinking Gang Summer Reunion Camping Trip. Only three of us going this year but will still be a good time – in spite of the fire restrictions.‘See’ you all next Tuesday. Have a great weekend everyone.
We’ve done very little traveling over the years because we won’t go anywhere we can’t take our dog. But whenever we do, I try to pack as lightly as possible because I hate lugging so much stuff around that seems to get heavier and heavier by the minute as I’m carrying it. If it’s at all possible, I always try to pack like-colored clothing so that I only need one purse, a couple pairs of shoes, and very little jewelry the whole time I’m gone. If I know we’re going someplace special where I’ll need some-thing fancier than shorts and sandals (in summer) or jeans and tennis shoes (in winter) then I’ll bring an extra outfit, purse and shoes for the occasion.
As for Cathy, you’d think they’re going to be gone two months instead of two weeks. Seems like overkill to take so many clothes, shoes and purses for so short a period of time — especially since they’ll most likely be flying instead of driving. Anyone who travels much by plane knows that every checked bag is an extra fee and those fees aren’t cheap so the less taken, the better.
