What generation are they exactly?
I think they are supposed be late boomers. (as opposed to early boomers.) Some would call them the Me Generation.

At one point Cathy’s age matched mine (we were going to the same high school reunion in the same year), and I’m a very early Boomer. Obviously, her age has changed in the strip.
